Course Description

  • ndamentals
    Students learn the basics of Carnatic vocal music, including the raaga and thala system, swaras, and basic theory. 
  • Voice training
    Students learn to set their voice range, improve their tempo, and traverse swaras across octaves. 
  • Practice
    Students learn a variety of practice techniques, including aakara practice and creative swara exercises. 
  • Songs
    Students learn to sing simple Carnatic krithis, as well as small songs called Nottu Swarams. 
  • Performance forms
    Students learn the building blocks for more advanced performance forms, such as alapana, neraval, and swara prastara
